D.A.R.E. Youth Advocacy Board Alumna from Canada
My name is Alexya Racicot, I live in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, and I am a grade 11 student passionate about the field of law in general. I am a hard working and enthusiastic student. I’m not shy to talk in front of a crowed and to share my ideas. I participate in several team sports which enhance my leadership skills and determination. On my spare time, I love to play piano and to sing. I sing in weddings and for church celebrations. Furthermore, I attend a French high school which means I’m fluent in French and English. In my first semester of grade eleven, I had the opportunity to have a coop placement with the Timmins Police Services. During this time, I participated in DARE classes and assisted the officer Constable Rick Lemieux with presentations to grade 6 students. This experience made me realize how I was a role model for these kids. Teaching them the importance of making the right decisions in life and even showing them where it would get them, is outstanding! It encourages them to follow their dream. I absolutely love this program! When I was a grade 6 student, Constable Rick Lemieux was my DARE officer and he had a big impact on my life. He made me appreciate the importance of making good decisions. To this day, I follow the lessons that Constable Lemieux shared with me at a young age. I am now willing to meet new people and to give out my ideas for these students to follow the right path in life.
