
Virginia’s Caitlin Walker receives the 2018 D.A.R.E. America National Scholarship Award from D.A.R.E. America President & Chief Executive Officer Frank Pegueros during the 31st D.A.R.E. International Training Conference, held July 10 to 12, 2018 at Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
The D.A.R.E. America Louis “Skip” Miller National Scholarship Award recognizes academic excellence and rewards students who remain true to the goals of the D.A.R.E. program. It is awarded annually to a qualified 12th grade student to attend the university or college of their choice.
Caitlyn was the D.A.R.E. America Youth Advocacy Board Member from Virginia. She said, “I first learned about D.A.R.E. when I was in 6th grade and we took the course in P.E. class. I then would help every summer at our local summer Sheriff Sports camps, which helped me develop a close relationship to the officers in my town. I have always had admiration to help others and I believe this program is a great way to not only meet new people, but also help educate them on the importance of D.A.R.E…..I am beyond excited to see the opportunities to come my way!”
