Beginning in the 1990s, both the United Kingdom and New Zealand taught the D.A.R.E. curricula and, as such, were listed among certified international D.A.R.E. programs. Over time, the parent organizations for each of their respective D.A.R.E. programs modified the curricula and strayed from utilizing only trained law enforcement officers to teach the program. Consequently, D.A.R.E. America/International no longer recognizes either the United Kingdom or New Zealand as official licensed D.A.R.E. programs and have formally requested to cease and desist the use of the D.A.R.E. name and marks.
