Ella Pelletier, 2014 Papillion, NE D.A.R.E. Pledge Contest Winner, with D.A.R.E. Officer Tony Foster.

Carriage Hill Elementary student, Ella Pelletier, is the 2014 D.A.R.E. Pledge Contest winner in Papillion, NE. Ella received her very own Daren, a D.A.R.E. medallion and D.A.R.E. coin for her efforts. She also attended the Mayor’s luncheon, with her parents and DARE Officer Tony Foster. Other’s in attendance included area mayors, city council members and state senators.

Ella’s Pledge:

This is my life and I plan to live it drug free. I know I may only be a kid, but I definitely know what I am talking about. More than 70,000 people die from alcohol and over 400,000 die from tobacco each year, and I am not going to be one of those people. If I become one of those people, it will encourage more people to drink alcohol and do drugs, and it will affect my body and my life. Also if I do drugs, I am letting down my entire family including my mom, dad, both my brothers, Kyle and Tony, and my DARE officer Tony Foster. I would be ashamed of myself if I let all those people down. That is why I pledge to NEVER do drugs or drink alcohol, until the day I die.

After reading her pledge to all in attendance, she received many congratulations and visits from dignitaries. After the luncheon, Ella rode in the Papillion Police Departments DARE car with Officer Foster in the annual Papillion Days parade.

The following appeared on her Facebook:

“Thank you officer Foster I had a great time I’m glad I got chosen thank you so much and thank you for all that D.A.R.E stuff you gave me I don’t know what I would do if you weren’t in my life”
