D.A.R.E. America was privileged to be a recipient of proceeds from the Pamela Gallade Charitable Remainder Unitrust. Pamela Markey Gallade passed away last fall at the age of only 63.

Mrs. Gallade was born in North Carolina and raised in Oceanside, California. She graduated from Oceanside High School and attended Chapman College in Orange County where she met her future husband James Gallade.

Following their graduation from Chapman College, Pamela and James were married. They had two sons, Byron and Kevin. The family resided in Santa Ana, Irvine and then Newport Beach. Pamela devoted significant time volunteering in the thrift shop as a member of the Assistance League of Newport.

Pamela’s life was not sheltered from tragedy. Her husband died at the age of 48 while waiting for his third kidney transplant. Sadly, her son Kevin passed away in his early 20’s. From the passing of her son, Pamela developed a passion for helping those struggling with addiction.

The D.A.R.E. family grieves the passing of Pamela and offers condolences to her son Bryon.

The gift bestowed to D.A.R.E. by Pamela will have a long lasting and wide spread positive impact upon the lives of tens of thousands of students. Pamela’s gift will provide the initial investment for a scholarship fund that will facilitate the training of thousands of D.A.R.E officers. Each officer, in turn, will have the potential of teaching thousands of students providing them with decision making skills that will contribute to their leading safe and healthy lives free from violence, substance use, and other dangerous behaviors.
