Jensen, who has been in charge of Princeton’s D.A.R.E. program for 20 years, attended the awards ceremony in Peoria June 15. Kammerer, speaking at Monday’s Princeton City Council meeting, summarized the letter sent to the police department announcing that Jensen had been selected as the 2018 Officer of the Year.

The letter stated to Jensen that his service to his community, and specifically to the children whose safety and well-being he is entrusted with, is “noble and honorable.” Reading from the letter, Kammerer said, “May your good work continue for many years to come.” Kammerer also said this award to Jensen was “very, very well deserved,” and he was impressed with the impact Jensen has made on the community.
