D.A.R.E. Youth Advocacy Board Member from Brazil
My name is Rebecca Alves Oliveira Castro. I am 15 years old. I was born in Carmo do Paranaíba. During part of my childhood I lived in Arapuá, a small town in the interior of Minas Gerais and part of Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais, but I now live in Patos de Minas, Brazil.
My parents are Sarah and Heliomar. She is a plastic artist and he is an officer of the military police. I have a brother, Samuel. He is 12 years old. And I study at the Colégio Tiradentes of the Minas Gerais Military Police.
In my childhood I was a curious child and I developed very fast at school and always loved to play instruments, sing, dance, also to play many sports like basketball and soccer. I always loved studying, too. My favorite subject at school is Physics.
I am a part of a youth group in my church where we discuss human behavior, the abuse of legal and illegal drugs, and racial discrimination in order to identify strategies to develop a solution for these problems.
I have been a vocal coach at the Assembleia de Deus Church since 2015. I give extracurricular classes in all subjects for middle and elementary school as a way to help my classmates. I am part of the Conservatório Municipal in my city, where I learn music.
I practice ballet at Kelly Loureiro. I play cello and sing all the time.
However, my biggest dream is to be a doctor in the Doctors Without Borders program to help many people every day.
