D.A.R.E. America Youth Advocacy Board Member from Texas
Hi, y’all! I’m Rebecca Stansell and I am proudly representing the state of Texas with some Texas-size attitude. I attend Booker T. Washington High School & The High School of Engineering Professions (HSEP) in Houston, Texas, and hope to make my mark on the world.
Currently, in my sophomore year of high school, I am a part of our Mademoiselle Chapter, Oceanette Dance Team, as well as many engineering projects outside of our regular classwork. Over the summer, I usually volunteer at the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club and work on hobbies such as art and running. My biggest thing is keeping myself busy with many activities and making the most of all of my opportunities.
D.A.R.E. first made an appearance in my life in elementary school. The presentation didn’t make much sense then, but looking back on it I realize that it’s important to teach youth like myself how to stay safe and healthy. I was offered the opportunity to apply to be a part of this board by my school’s Magnet Officer and Principal and I cannot thank them enough for that. I can’t wait to see how I can influence this program.
My driving goal for this program is to inform my fellow youth about the world around us, especially how it affects us. In my opinion, it is vital for youth to be active in our society and know what’s good and healthy for us physically and the world as a whole.
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me get one step closer to reaching my goals in life. I could not have made it here with all of this support. My teachers, administrators, family, and friends are my main motivation.
Excited to work with the D.A.R.E. as a part of their Youth Advocacy Board and can’t wait for the future!
