From March 10-12, 2020, the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul’s (RS) D.A.R.E. Program, or as it’s known throughout Brazil as Program on Resistance to Drugs and Violence (PROERD), held their 22nd annual statewide training seminar in Lajeado, RS Brazil with the theme “Paths to Peace”. Approximately 300 out of the 517 Brigada Militar police officers certified as PROERD instructors from around the state attended the seminar, in addition to teachers from schools in the region, facilitators and collaborators.

The State Coordinator of PROERD RS, Lieutenant Colonel Cilon Freitas da Silva stated, “It is an important moment to energize the instructors and update them. It is the time to align with the strategies of the command to provide an improvement in the quality of life and prevent this from being caused by drugs and violent attitudes, in addition to encouraging and motivating the Military Police for the upcoming school year.”

The training concluded with all 300 PROERD officers conducting school visitations in Lajeado on the last day of the seminar, promoting quality of life and educating students on drug prevention strategies.
