D.A.R.E. America Youth Advocacy Board Member from Georgia
Hello, I am Taliyah Sims. I am a freshman at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, GA. My parents are Sade Mercery and Mark Sims. I have four siblings, two sisters and two brothers.
I am an active member of the cheerleader squad and track team for my school. I have participated in several community service events, including feeding the homeless, tutoring my peers, volunteering with the local community centers and helped picking up trash at local parks. I am an honor student, my current GPA is 94.88. I have received numerous academic awards. My classmates selected me to be one of the Homecoming attendants and I was crowned 9th Grade Homecoming Princess. In my free time I enjoy singing, watching movies and spending time with my family. My ultimate goal is to attend John Hopkins School of Medicine to become a Neurosurgeon.
I am 5th and 7th grade D.A.R.E. graduate. I enjoyed a lot things during D.A.R.E, but the main thing I liked most was the Keepin’ It R.E.A.L. aspect of the program. We talked about real life problems. Throughout the program the students’ participation was essential and that truly helped us share our opinions on situations while also learning how to stay safe and control our actions.
