A number of West Delaware Middle School recently graduated from the D.A.R.E. program.

D.A.R.E. – which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education – has undergone several curriculum changes over the years to keep pace with drug trends and resistance strategies. The program most recently added anti-bullying strategies to its curriculum.

Students have been taking part in D.A.R.E. classes led by the Manchester Police Department and a short graduation ceremony was held last week. Essay winners were chosen by their classmates to read their essay in front of the class, with the students enjoying snacks and refreshments afterwards.

This year’s essay winners were Adam Cook, Nick Lewis, Carley Eike, Kloee Chrystal, Christian Timmerman, Nickolas Uthe, Kennedy Loesche, Tiana Washington, Saul Barron and Levi Wilson-Bries.

Manchester Police have led the D.A.R.E. program at West Delaware Middle School and St. Mary’s School since 1993.
