The Drug Enforcement Administration calls Fentanyl “the single deadliest drug threat our nation has ever encountered.”OThe CDC reported 107,375 deaths due to drug overdoses in 2021.O67% of those deaths involved Fentanyl or other synthetic opioids.

Multiple states have begun to introduce and enact new laws requiring Fentanyl prevention education to be presented in all schools, in some cases, annually to students in all grades.

Lafayette’s D.A.R.E. program graduated 225 students recently. The D.A.R.E. program taught by Lafayette County deputies is a 10-week course that focuses on how students can make responsible decisions when it comes to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, bullying and peer pressure.
