Applications are now being accepted for the Connecticut D.A.R.E. Officer Training. The location of this two-week training will be at the Connecticut State Police Training Academy, 285 Preston Avenue Meriden, CT. Classes will begin January 7, 2019 and end on January 18, 2019 (Monday-Friday only).
Seating for this class will be limited; please adhere to the closing date. All interested applicants should submit an application, through their Chief Executive/Training Officer, to the Connecticut State Police D.A.R.E. Unit, 285 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450. Contact Trooper Kate Cummings #1279 (Katharine.Cummings@ct.gov) with any questions. All training applications should be sent to the attention of Trooper Cummings #1279 no later than Friday, December 21, 2018.
Upon completion of the course each candidate will be certified to teach the K-12 curricula. Applicant must be a certified police officer, have at least two years of police experience, and a strong desire to work with school aged children. Candidates must be available to attend all ten days of the training course.
This is the initial two-week, 80 hour course for all Uniformed Law Enforcement and School Resource Officers who need to be certified to teach the new D.A.R.E. program known as keepin’ it REAL!
Cost: This training is TUITION-FREE! All Instructor Materials, Free!
D.A.R.E. America has contracted with the Holiday Inn Express North Las Cruces, 2142 Telshor Ct. Las Cruces, NM 88011, telephone # (575) 522-0700. The federal per diem rate of $94.00 has been granted by the Holiday Inn and this includes breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi. With tax and fees, the total is $109.01 a night. If you would like to stay at the host hotel, they have blocked rooms for this training event. When you call for your reservations mention “DARE TRAINING” to receive the pricing.
$750 includes 80-hour training, classroom materials, light breakfast, hot lunch, and daily snacks, Monday – Friday.
Travel, lodging and dinner are at your own expense. We use Hampton Inn Joliet – I-55 for training needs and they provide a full hot breakfast daily. Hotel costs are generally under $100 per night based off current governmental agreement – subject to change.
The Oklahoma D.A.R.E. Officer Training seminar is scheduled for July 15-26, 2019.
The training will be held at the Wyndham Garden Hotel Oklahoma City Airport, located at 2101 S. Meridian, OKC, OK 73108.
Once you have completed this training you will be able to teach:
- D.A.R.E. Program in Kindergarten through 4th grade, 5th and 6th grade
- The New Jr. High Program Keeping It Real.
Since this is an intense two-week training, we require that all participants stay at the hotel if you are more than 40 miles from the training site. The seminar will require many out-of-classroom hours for preparation. All classroom sessions are mandatory for certification.
Registration Options (prices are per person)
Registration is $600 and includes hotel accommodations with a roommate of the same gender for 10 nights, with breakfast buffet each morning.
Private Room (Weekend check-out)
Registration fee of $1,200 includes hotel accommodations with no roommate for 10 nights with breakfast buffet each morning.
Private Room (With weekend)
Registration fee of $1,300 includes hotel accommodations with no roommate for 12 nights and breakfast buffet each morning.
Meals and transportation are each agency’s responsibility.
Applicants must be full-time commissioned/sworn officers with at least two years of law-enforcement experience. If you have less than two years’ experience, you will have to apply for a waiver. Please read the attached seminar information sheet before selecting your D.A.R.E. Officer applicant. The forms must be completed and returned as soon as possible. The slots available for this training are on a first come first serve basis.
